Easily one of the grandest achievements in gaming you could possibly gain… if you have what it takes to do it.
For those who don’t know, the Ironman challenge works similarly to the Nuzlocke Challenge in Pokemon, meaning that what is dead remains as such and you cannot, under whatever circumstances, reset your game.
It supposedly inherited the name from the Ironman Triathlon, which is a test of endurance, or simply from the X-COM in game mode called Ironman.
This challenge is not for the faint of heart. You will feel the adrenaline of every battle and the sweat after each one of them, the fear of losing your loved ones to the point that you’ll want to protect them more than anything in the world.
Forget about taking useless risks, such as finding opportunities to boost underleveled characters or even trying to take on optional (special) bosses. For this is a run with no rest, no turning back, and you only get one shot.
Now, since Fire Emblem doesn’t allow you to farm exp that often (except for the arena), accurate tactics, along with carefull party planning and formations are going to be paramount if you want to get through this mode with as few deaths as possible.
For this Ironman Challenge, i’m going to set the stake as high as i can, by making you play through what i consider to be the most difficult Fire Emblem game as of today: Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest.
- Play through the entire Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest campaign in Ironman mode. You have to go on, no matter who dies, you cannot reset any chapter.
- If a lord dies and brings up the game-over screen, you have to start over the whole game from the beginning.
Now go, grab a spear, a sword and an axe and don’t presume i have to tell you how to use those, i’m here just for the show afterall.
I will see you, in the next Challenge…tactician!
